How have we already managed to make it through another year? And almost through the first week of a new year. Life really does fly by the older you get.
Let me take a moment to introduce myself. If you haven’t check out my “meet me” you can start there. I really am only 27 at this point, but my birthday is next month and I know I’ll forget to update the page because that’s how my good intentions tend to go. But I’m making a good effort to not let things fall of this year.
I’ve spent a lot of time over the last two months thinking about what I wanted my 2018 to look like. I have several professional and personal goals and it’s going to keep me pretty busy as a result. I’m still adjusting to being a bonus-mom and all that being a parent entails. I’m learning to track my goals so I don’t get sidetracked and totally lose them in the dust, which is something I’m extremely guilty of in the past.
But I think the best thing about the new year is how it really is ALL about new beginnings. Whether that’s health, organization, relationships, or budgets the opportunity is yours for the taking because it’s FRESH. It’s not that you don’t have the same opportunity through the rest of the year, but there’s something so wonderful about the newness. I mean let’s be real here, I know I’m not the only one that has written 201
78. It’s happened more than I care to admit. But that’s because that’s how NEW the new year is. Bright shiny and fun.
I want my goals for 2018 to go beyond while it’s fun and shiny. I am determined to keep my focus through my entire year. That’s why I put in quite a lot of research (thanks Google) to find a great way to track my goals, plans, meetings, etc. There are TONS of options out there and they all have different things to offer. This year, I’m using the Commit30 planner (go check them out!) I love that it has monthly goal planning in a web form that also allows me to go back and review HOW I did for that goal each month. WHAT a way to hold myself accountable! I’m still getting all the details hammered out, but so far this is working WAY better for me than any of my old planners. For instance, it’s made it with me the whole week. Only 52 more to go to see if it’s successful!
Don’t mind my scribbles, like I said I’m still figuring it out.
Do you have any secrets to having a super organized life? I need all the help and suggestions I can get (seriously, check out my Instagram story about my bathroom shelf…I mean I know it’s ONLY one shelf but for now that’s all I have. I have to make it work!
So, there we have it. The first week into 2018 is a success. Sure, I missed two workouts thanks to sleeping in…but it’s all about balance and getting sleep is an important part of that balance. Something I tend to NEVER do. If you have big goals and plans for 2018, I’d really love to hear about them. Maybe we could even have a monthly planning sesh for February – wouldn’t that be fun! For now, I’m going to go curl up with Shaun T’s “T is For Transformation” for some fun reading before I fall asleep. I highly recommend you give it a read. He’s got quite the story and his energy can be felt through the book.
